Revell wood kit - The propeller of Leonardo Da Vinci

This study of a flying machine with a rotating wing is a single case in Leonardo's impressive work on the subject of flight. To subscribe quoted Leonardo, the flying machine that would screw with faster rotation in the air. The propeller is thus the predecessor of the modern helicopter.

The model consists of a circular base plate with a movable ring, which is in turn connected to a vertical shaft. A screw that tapers toward the top, is connected to the shaft and fitted with braces to the floating ring of the base plate. Leonardo designed a machine that was inspired by naturally occurring helical forms - for example, maple seeds, which can fly long distances by rotation. The replica of the model is based on the assumption that four men to move the shaft so that the screw rotates very quickly. Leonardo thought, but probably to a drive mechanism in the form of a spring or a rope with a small paper model - in original size, the machine would not work because of their own weight.
