Revell wood kit - The Crane by Leonardo da Vinci

On two sides of the same leaf Leonardo drew two cranes for lifting and moving heavy loads, which he had observed very likely at construction sites around Florence.
The crane with an arm is mounted on a circular platform that should allow even more likely by wheels or ball bearings quick transport of the material. The weight is lifted by a system of ropes and rollers. The crank is connected to a gear that is equipped with a pawl. This prevents the weight fall off at work or fluctuate erratically. A crate filled with stones also serves as a counterweight.

On the other side of the sheet Leonardo drew a two-armed crane which should serve the trenches of the fortress at Milan's empty. Model builders can now walk in Leonardo's footsteps and to understand the function of the crane on the model. The crane can be rotated, and the load can be lifted by a hand crank and pulleys. A lock prevents the lever from slipping back.
